Volunteer at FKO! Mentoring Program! Thanks to the Mass Mentoring Partnership, For Kids Only Afterschool is implementing our first ever mentoring program! Become a mentor to a child in need, and come join the fun at FKO! Our mission in installing this program is to target youth who are at-risk for behavioral concerns, an unstable home life, a need for guidance, or who lack healthy social and emotional skills. We are looking for volunteers to serve as mentors at our sites in Everett during afterschool hours. The mentor will be assigned to a youth enrolled in FKO and will be responsible for meeting with the mentee, at his/her school during afterschool hours, on a weekly basis for a minimum of one hour per week. A one-year commitment is preferred. The mentor may be asked to work on certain aspects of the youth’s personal development. The mentor will work with our energetic and dedicated staff to understand the youth and his or her family better and to facilitate activities to help the child. The mentor will serve as an example/role model. Self-realization and improved self-esteem for the young person are important goals of the relationship. Become a mentor, and change a child’s life! Application One-Time Volunteer Opportunities: For Kids Only Afterschool sites are always seeking volunteers to come to our program and share their knowledge with our children! Examples: Career Day Presentation Group Read-Alouds Cultural Cooking/Traditions Teach a class on a special skill/talent.
